Popular social networking platform Facebook is about to roll out the podcast feature this month.

Zuckerberg’s platform sent an e-mail to ‘podcasters’ in this regard, setting the date as June 22. Details say that the episodes will show up on a ‘podcasts’ tab which has to go live.

Earlier, Facebook had dropped hints about the ‘podcast’ feature back in April. As of now, a limited number of page owners would have access to the feature.

What’s Different About Facebook Podcasts

The distinctive feature about Facebook’s feature is that podcast owners can enable distribution of audio clips with length of less than one minute.

Facebook seems to be tapping into the audio world after having delved deep into the video arena. From video sharing to Facebook live to stories, Facebook was lagging behind others in terms of Audio.

Twitter had introduced sharing of audio clips as tweets; however, Facebook now seems to replicate the same idea through its ‘Soundbites’ feature which will live within the News Feed.

Podcast’s Popularity

Podcasts which can be translated as broadcast of audio clips are popular now a days. As per Podcast Insights 2020, there are over 30 million podcast episodes available.

At present, Spotify is leading the audio industry hosting podcasts. With Facebook’s push into the audio genre, there seems to be advertising and marketing at display. Facebook has literally harnessed every available platform to use it for advertising. The ‘audio’ venture seems to be in the same direction.
