Richard Branson, the Chief Executive Officer of Virgin group would be beating Jeff Bezos on timeline. Branson will be flying to space on Virgin Galactic’s upcoming rocket-powered test flight.
While Amazon’s Bezos is scheduled to go to space on July 20, Branson has revealed the date to be July 11th. In a promotional video, Branson could be seen smiling as he reveals the crew.
Dave Mackay and Michael Masucci would be flying VSS Unity to the space. Branson’s firm did a successful flight in late May; the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted full commercial launch license to the billionaire. Virgin Galactic had completed its first ever spaceflight from Spaceport America, New Mexico.
Branson would also be taking all of us along through technology as the spaceflight would be livestreamed. Branson has also revealed that when he is back, he will reveal something exciting, giving more people the chance to become asatronauts.
‘I have always been a dreamer. My mum taught me to never give up and to reach for the stars,’ Branson could be seen saying in the video.
The Amazon head Jeff Bezos is set to fly to space on July 20th for his first crewed spaceflight. The trip is being conducted by Bezos’s Blue Origin company.
Interestingly, Jeff Bezos started Blue Origin in 2000, four years before Richard Branson started Virgin Galactic; however, Branson seems to be ahead of the billionaire when it comes to space.
Bezos would be taking along the 82 year old American aviator Wally Funk for the journey. The aviator has over 19,000 flying hours and has taught over 3,000 people to fly.
